Waterjet cutting is an amazing technology, utilizing some of the world most common resources, water, and stone. Combining these two resources under high pressure, we are able to cut most materials up to 200mm thick.
With advancements in technology, software and the machines, waterjet cutting has become the fastest growing, machine tool industry in the world today. This is due to the versatility of the process and with the latest developments, it has become very economical.
Waterjet cutting is considered a “green” technology. No noxious gases or liquids are used during the process and there are no hazardous materials or vapours emitted. Waterjets produce no hazardous waste, reducing waste disposal costs. Parts can be closely nested to maximize material use, and the waterjet saves material by creating very little kerf. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process, so there is no heat affected zones or mechanical stresses left on the waterjet cut surface. Because of this, warping and distortion typically associated with a laser, plasma and oxy cutting are eliminated, therefore minimizing the need for secondary processing.
